On July 15, 2012, the appraisal meeting on scientific and technological achievements of "AP1000 nuclear island main equipment big forging" and "high temperature air-cooled reactor nuclear island main equipment big forging" developed by Shanghai Heavy Machinery Factory Co., Ltd. affiliated to Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Jiaotong University was held in Shanghai.The appraisal committee for scientific and technological achievements, composed of six academics of Engineering Academies and five senior experts in China, listened to the report on the work of the project in an all-round way, examined various appraisal materials, and visited the production site and on-the-spot. After a comprehensive and multi-angle inquiry and discussion, the two projects were officially appraised by the State.

The appraisal shows that the comprehensive performance index and manufacturing technology research results of large forgings for AP1000 nuclear island main equipment of Shanghai Electric Power have reached the advanced international level; the large forgings for pressure vessels and internal components of high temperature air-cooled reactor nuclear island main equipment are the first set in the world, and their comprehensive performance index and manufacturing technology research results have reached the advanced international level.
